Kentinental is one of the world’s largest supplies of high quality steel photocopier and printer stands and cabinets to the office equipment industry. The vast majority of cabinets are manufactured and delivered to our patented, versatile, cost saving flat pack design. Less than 10 percent are now in a welded construction format.

Our patented flat pack designs have been welcomed by our clients because:

They are easy and quick to assemble without nuts, bolts or screws
They are quality controlled to ISO 9001:2000 standards.
They have dramatically reduced our client’s expensive costs of freight, storage and damage in transit.
They allow each of our clients to specify a cost saving global design and quality standard without compromising the design features of their products

So your specified design can now be cost effectively shipped world wide without the variation in cost, quality and design that can easily occur when left to a local manufacturer.

Company History

Kentinental Engineering was established in 1965 and was acquired by the present management in 1987.

The company originally manufactured a mixture of wooden and tubular steel office furniture and photocopier cabinets but, over time, these were unable to meet our changing clients’ needs in terms of colour, design, damage in transit and reduction in weight.

So, during the early 1980’s we phased out our wooden cabinets and replaced them with colour matched metal designs.
In 1989 our highly innovative, patented metal flat pack cabinet was launched, revolutionising the market by reducing the cost of freight, storage and damage in transit. Until this time many clients had experienced delays during installation of expensive photocopiers because of cabinets damaged in transit.

From 1994 Kentinental moved solely to bespoke designs that matched each OEM client’s products for height, colour and design features, with many cabinets incorporating a mixture of steel and colour matched plastic doors and stability components.

During 2003 the first photocopier cabinets were made by our ISO 9001:2000 Quality Approved manufacturers in Asia Pacific, providing the benefit of competitive product costs and allowing Kentinental to provide cost effective solutions on a global basis.

We now have an established global supply chain of OEM client specified and approved flat pack products from the UK and Asia Pacific manufacturing sites, or from our stocks held in Asia Pacific, European and USA warehouses.

Quality

The KE Group has been registered through BSI to ISO 9001:2000 since August 1993 – Registration Number FM25212. The quality management system has been audited and approved by our leading global clients.

New product designs, including packaging, are developed and tested to ensure client satisfaction and confidence.

The manufacturing and inspection controls throughout the manufacturing process ensure reliability, repeatability and interchange ability of product and components.

The quality of Asian manufactured products and components is controlled by the UK Quality Assurance department with robust inspection and testing approvals before release and despatch of every shipment.

The KE Group is currently installing an Environmental Management System to gain registration to ISO 14001.

All products comply with the requirements of the European Directive for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).

Design

Kentinental Engineering has the advantage of more than 25 years experience in designing photocopier cabinets and our design team works closely with our OEM clients to ensure their needs are met, often to comply with tight launch deadlines.

Typically there will be four or five live projects in progress; at design, testing or prototype stages, or being prepared for client approval prior to a new product launch.

Combining the latest Solidworks 3D modelling technology with AutoCAD and Radan software has allowed us to supply our client’s needs accurately, quickly and efficiently, both electronically and physically, using drawings and prototypes, to obtain client approval at key stages of each project.

All new designs are prototyped in-house and demonstrated to the OEM client for testing and final approval. All component parts of the prototype are packed in a customised box which is then drop tested to eradicate damage in transit.

First off batches are then always manufactured in our UK factory to ensure the product is ready for small batch or high volume production.

Our project management solution approach from design concept through to competitively priced, quality assured products gives Kentinental Engineering several distinct advantages in the market place.

manufacture

Kentinental Engineering occupies a factory and office site in Borough Green, Kent, England of about 60,000 square feet (about 6,000 square metres).

The main stages for the production of the sheet steel components used in the photocopier cabinets are stamping, punching, forming, MIG & TIG or spot welding, a five stage iron phosphate pre-treatment process followed by fully automated electrostatic powder painting.

Custom designed packaging is supplied pre-printed with the client’s artwork and bar coding. All component parts are packed in a pre-determined arrangement within a folded box.

Boxes are stacked on custom sized pallets to an agreed height in order to maximise truck or trailer capacity. The stack is cling wrapped to form a rigid load for safe onward shipping.

Significant investment have been made in metal stamping, folding and plastic mould tooling to ensure all products meet and maintain our client’s high quality standards at a competitive price in a global market.

Kentinental supplies the office equipment industry with high quality steel photocopier cabinets and printer stands, offering a project management solution approach that includes a full design facility, production engineering, quality assurance, small batch and high volume manufacturing and a global freight logistic service.

The vast majority of our custom designed cabinets are manufactured and delivered to our flat pack design, reducing freight costs, storage space and in transit damage costs.

Patents have been granted in respect of the Kentinental’s unique flat pack and spring clip concept.

Kentinental’s flat pack design allows our OEM clients to set the global standard for their cabinet. The convenience of the design cuts freight, storage and in transit damage costs, relative to a fully welded assembled product, without compromising the design features of the cabinet.

Our current designs incorporate the stability requirements of UL1950 EN60950 safety standards.

Dem Truck

Ideal for demonstration, servicing and distribution purposes

The Demtruk is used for transferring electro-mechanical, electronic and other pieces of expensive, delicate or heavy equipment where lifting in and out of a vehicle could mean:
         back strain to the employee
         expensive damage to the equipment
more than one person being required

There are 5 easy steps to moving your equipment on a Demtruk
Step one - The equipment is moved on to a Demtruk pallet.
Step two – The pallet is slid onto the collapsible Demtruk undercarriage.
Step three - The Demtruk is wheeled to the vehicle, the pallet unclipped and slid into back of the vehicle.
Step four – The undercarriage is collapsed down and stowed in the vehicle.
Step five – On arrival at the destination the undercarriage is unfolded, pallet slid into place and the equipment wheeled inside for use.

The benefits of the Demtruk are:
Health and safety for the employee - avoiding back strain injury
Single person operation – saving duplicate staffing
Easy manoeuvrability and positive braking on both back wheels
Height adjustable – suitable for the majority of vans, estate cars and station wagons
Two versions – suiting light weight or heavier weight equipment being moved
Three sizes of pallet – choice depending on width of the equipment
